Our Story
An award winning fish and chip shop on Delves Lane, Consett, with a brand new look and plenty more on the way.
Golden Fish Inn is a proper local chippy, established in 2003. People from all over the North East come to visit us for fish and chips, a quick lunch, or a family tea when nobody fancies cooking.
We believe in doing the simple things properly: fresh fish, crisp golden batter, freshly cut chips and portions that fill you up. That's what won us multiple awards.
Now we've given the shop a complete makeover. The tired old front has gone. In its place is a smart navy and gold shop front with an illuminated Golden Fish Inn sign, warm lighting, planters and a new paved area outside. Same chippy, same food, a whole new look.
How we cook
Everything is cooked fresh to order. Here's what goes into it.
The fish
Our haddock is line caught and delivered fresh every day, and our cod is 100% sustainable fillet. All our fish is sustainably sourced from Atlantic waters. Have it battered, in breadcrumbs, or in lemon pepper breadcrumbs.
Made in our kitchen
We make our own fishcakes and patties by hand: cod and parsley, Thai sweet chilli, cod, leek and cheddar, Indian spiced, corned beef, cheese, and mushy pea fritters. Our tartare sauce is a secret recipe.
Something for everyone
Alongside the fish there are kebabs, quarter and half pounder burgers, pitta burgers, the biggest 12" donner wrap in Consett, sides, kids meals and lunchtime specials.
Gluten free and vegan
Gluten free and vegan orders are cooked to order in their own separate pan. Our gluten free menu has over 20 dishes, and there's vegan fish and chips too.

Macmillan is a cause close to our hearts. Over the years our team has raised more than £10,000 to help Macmillan support people living with cancer and their families.
